About:
Operation Pets Alive (OPA) is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization striving to elevate Montgomery County to a No-Kill community through innovative programs. Our Adoption, Public Spay/Neuter, TNR and Transport programs:
- Raise community awareness
- Reduce the number of dogs and cats that enter our shelters
- Increase the number of dogs and cats that leave our shelters alive
In the last three years, OPA has adopted more than 3,300 dogs and cats to our local community through our Adoption/Foster program. All are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed and neutered and are placed in suitable homes. We require all of our animals in our program to be spayed or neutered, when of age, to help reduce the number of unwanted litters in our community. To further help this effort, our Public Spay/Neuter Program offers residents of Montgomery County two low cost options to have their pets spayed or neutered.
For Montgomery County's feral cat population our TNR Program, traps, neuters (or spays) and returns the cats to their managed colony. These cats are also vaccinated and given any other medical treatment deemed necessary for a healthy and pain-free life. This limits breeding and reduces intake of cats and kittens at our local shelter that will be at a higher risk of euthenasia due to their feral nature. Finally, our transport programs, "Pups on Trucks," "Flight for Life" and "Puppies and Kittens with Wings," supplement local rescue efforts by sending “at risk” dogs, puppies or kittens to partnering shelters and rescues in the northeast, and other areas of the country where these transport candidates realize a 99.9% save rate.

"The fosters are just over the top loving and caring individuals. It really makes a difference in your soon to be pets life. If they come from a happy environment that happiness does carry over into their forever home. All my fur babies are so cuddly, snuggly and playful! They have ALL come from OPA!"

"These people are awesome! They helped me get my female American Bully fixed within a weeks time. The surgery was very good and I feel like the staff actually cared about her. I have reccomended them to many people that I feel may be in need."

"We love, love, love this amazing rescue organization! We just adopted and absolutely adore our boy kitty North! He was worth the wait! They do it right at Operation Pet’s Alive. They care so much about all the safety and well being of the animals. They care about what happens to them, and where they end up. We feel the same about all animals in my family. Thank you Operation Pet’s Alive for all the good you do for the animals! Keep up the excellent work."

"This is such a great organization that does so much to help rescue homeless animals in shelters and in our community. OPA also has foster programs and are active in assisting with low cost spay & neuter and TNR of feral cats in the community. Thank you OPA. It warms my heart when I see your FB posts of rescued dogs & cats in the arms of their new loving families."
