SlabSure, a brand of Steadfast Foundation Technologies, LLC, was created to address the challenge of maintaining a slab on grade foundation under a home built on expansive clays. It’s like a check engine light for your foundation. Our sensors are protected and attached around the home foundation below the soil, so that you never see them. Every 10 feet and every hour, the sensors measure the up and down movement of the foundation. The readings are sent back to our servers by our cellular computer, which is placed inside an attractive enclosure that is attached to the side of the home. The servers collect 600 elevation readings a day on most homes. After a year, hundreds of thousands of readings make for a really good “picture” of how your home behaves through the seasons. We call this the baseline year. From that point forward, we look for anomalies and provide feedback any time you log in.
Once we have a baseline, we don’t just measure but we also predict when an engineering guideline might be exceeded. We reach out if something is trending in the wrong direction and tell you where, potential reasons why, and how long you have before the engineering guideline is indeed exceeded. For example, you might receive a warning that says: “On the north side of the home, 17 feet west of the northwest corner, the sensor is climbing. Historically, rain has resulted in upward movement, so excess moisture may be the cause. Examine the location to see if a sprinkler is broken or some other reason for excess moisture exists. Given the current rate of climb, in 72 days, the L/360 guideline will be exceeded for typical slab-on-grade foundations.”
In short, we use data to help inform you on how best to maintain your home. The data belongs to you and can only be transferred by you. This means you have a leg up on all other homes on the market if you ever chose to sell. Until then, you have peace of mind.
